Elk falsely accused of murder

CRAIG - Clyde faced a possible death sentence for murder, but an autopsy report cleared the falsely accused bull elk.

Clyde was accused of killing 57-year-old John Renner on Thursday.
Renner was on his second day on the job at Wyman Elk Ranch, about two miles east of Craig, when he died inside Clyde's pen.
Initial reports were that Clyde gored Renner to death, but an autopsy showed the man died of a heart problem.
Renner did have minor injuries attributed to the animal, but Clyde's owner, Lou Wyman, says his elk probably just pawed at Renner after he collapsed.
Wyman says he is relieved he won't have to put Clyde down.
